Could usefully feed into church night on Tuesdays. What could we do to include people with no online presence, but who always make the effort to be physically present?

I recently read a book by John Ortberg 'The me I want to be', which was a good read and helped me to let myself feel happier about the fact that I enjoy work, and the feeling of achievement that it gives me. I guess it's not sinful to take pleasure in stuff like that, so long as it remains a simple pleasure and doesn't assume an undue importance in my life.

I see a fair amount of death myself, and I think that one of my bigger motivators is that I want to get to my death bed and feel that good kind of tiredness that you get when you have had a really good day, and I think if I want to feel that way, then I'm gonna have to really throw myself into life - in every way (not just work).

They might not 'do' these things themselves, but they like to know they are being kept alive somewhere! But that doesn't mean we should drop all our rituals and symbolism and traditions in the seach for cultural relevance, or the chance to surprise people outside the church with how 'with it' the church can be. We should regularly examine what we do and why we do it, but being 'culturally relevant' is not, on its own, a good reason to be doing something. But then I did always rather enjoy being counter-cultural!

Re: Urgent Prayer Request

Please keep on praying. By being part of a community of God's people in Gravesend and Faversham, working with young people, has often given me the opportunity to use my creative side. We can all use our talents when we are part of a church community, if only we could be bothered enough. God very clearly called me to come to Faversham and when I struggle with that calling and want to quit something usually happens that reminds me that I should still be here.
